LGBT+ History Month Has Started

THIS FEBRUARY, A NUMBER OF EVENTS WILL BE HELD ACROSS UCL TO SUPPORT THE SCHOOLS OUT UK LGBT+  HISTORY MONTH CAMPAIGN, THIS YEAR BASED AROUND THE THEME OF CITIZENSHIP, PSHE (PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION) AND LAW.

Schools Out UK have been campaigning for LGBT inclusion for almost 40 years, with LGBT+ History month one of their major schemes to achieve this aim.

This initiative aims to increase the visibility of LGBT people, and promote awareness of their history, lives and experiences. History Month also works to create more safe spaces for LGBT people, in order to promote their welfare.

2017 is a significant year for LGBT movements as it marks the 50th anniversary to the end of partial discrimination of male homosexuality in England and Wales.

Events include Queer book clubs, Varsity football competitions and Rainbow Sports Nights at Phineas and Loop.
