None of that field hockey nonsense: Ice Hockey Varsity, UCL Yetis V Imperial Devils

JAMAL RIZVI GIVES US THE PRE-MATCH ANALYSIS FOR THE ICE HOCKEY MATCH BETWEEN UCL AND IMPERIAL

The annual Varsity showdown between the UCL Yetis and Imperial Devils is ready to take place on Friday the 20th of March in Streatham.

Over a thousand people saw Imperial securing a late win last year after they beat the Yetis in a penalty shoot out. Both teams weren’t giving each other an inch during a heated three periods and were forced to take it into over time with 4-4 on the scoreboard. A golden goal would have meant a win for one of the teams but a sold out Streatham Ice Arena was brought to the edge of their seats while both teams prepared for the penalty shoot out.

After missed penalties from Guido de Boer and Mark Ongemakh, it was up to Imperial to sign for the winner, which saw the Imperial crowd exploding with excitement.

After a dramatic start of the season the Yetis have found their way back to the top of the table since the new year, with three big wins. Harrison Connelly, a new addition to the team, has proven his importance to the squad by claiming five goals and five assists in only two games. Connelly will be completing the first line attack along Coach Chris Fox and Captain Guido de Boer.

With one game left to play, the Yetis have a very good chance of claiming promotion into division one next year, whereas Imperial Devils will almost certainly finish last.

UCL have the best odds for this game but, as Varsity isn’t a normal league match, both teams will not shy from adding a few reinforcements, which will only add to the excitement and uncertainty of the outcome of the night.

The UCL Yetis need as much support as possible, so make sure you come down and cheer them on to victory!
