With classes and societies all online, many students are feeling disconnected from each other and unenthusiastic about university life. Exam season is fast approaching, and the inability to study in groups, swap study materials and exchange ideas makes work a gloomy prospect. The UCL experience that many of us signed up for is not all that it’s cracked up to be. Fortunately, Studydrive quite literally has the answers. With access to over 600,000 free study materials, over two million answered questions, and 1.5 million students, the platform offers a glimmer of hope to many an apathetic student.

Unlike other platforms, Studydrive is entirely free. It’s also refreshingly simple to use; select your university and your degree programme, and you’re set. From the Newsfeed, you can search for specific documents, modules and flashcards. Members are able to upload their lecture notes and study materials, which are then shared with others taking the module. The UCL Biochemistry and Molecular Biology module currently has 143 members and over 30 documents on a range of topics. If being a good Samaritan isn’t incentive enough, you are given rewards such as Amazon vouchers for uploading materials.

One of Studydrive’s best features is the ability to join groups of interest. These include professional themes such as ‘Applications and Job Interviews’, more light-hearted topics such as ‘Recipes for Students’, useful ways of meeting similar people such as ‘International Students in the UK’, and one particularly aimed at UCL students. UCL’s discussion group currently has 1,804 members, with posts ranging from discussions about coping with stress, favourite locations on campus, Maths Society, Jazz Choir and recommended modules.

A Modern Languages student who recently returned from their Year Abroad in Paris told Pi Media, “I recently joined Studydrive and I love it! It has put me in contact with people who study similar modules, so I am able to gain a larger perspective on topics I am studying. I absolutely love the groups and the study materials, especially as people share lecture notes and vocabulary from other universities, giving me a well-rounded view on the subject. The UCL group made me feel like a real part of the community, especially given online learning this year. I feel as though my final year is filled with friends.”
