The Bloomsbury Surgery opens up 'first-come, first-served' Covid vaccinations to UCL students
UCL students will be able to receive their free coronavirus vaccines from Saturday.
On Saturday June 5, students at UCL can receive free Pfizer jabs less than half a mile away from campus at The Bloomsbury Surgery.
The Bloomsbury Surgery, located at 8 Hunter Street, Kings Cross, will open its doors to UCL students between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m..
But this will not be the only opportunity for students to get jabbed at the surgery as UCL has stressed “The Bloomsbury Surgery will be offering other vaccination clinics in the coming weeks.”
Students must be registered at The Bloomsbury Surgery, Ridgmount Practice or one of their partner surgeries to be eligible to receive their dose. Those who are not currently registered can do so either online or in-person, provided they reside within the surgery’s Bloomsbury catchment area.
Students intending to register on the day are advised to bring a valid form of personal identification, such as a passport or driver’s licence, with them to The Bloomsbury Surgery.
All students wanting to get jabbed on Saturday must bring either their UCL student card or a valid statement of student status letter with them before receiving their vaccination.
The programme is open to both domestic and international students, but overseas students must have been in the UK for the last six months and have at least six months in the UK remaining.
There have previously been concerns that London has lagged behind other English regions in rolling out the coronavirus vaccines.
Nonetheless, this attempt to vaccinate the capital’s student population comes just days after thousands aged 18 or older descended upon Twickenham Stadium following an open invitation for Londoners to receive an inoculation.
Overall, around 3 in 4 British adults have now received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, with almost 40 million people reported to have been jabbed.
And on June 2, the iPaper’s deputy political editor, Hugo Guy, tweeted that 22 per cent of Britain’s 16 to 29 year-olds had received at least their first vaccine.
The Bloomsbury Surgery vaccination clinic will hope to build on the work of the vaccine roll-out, including that of UCL’s own medic students, to jab the arms of the university’s student population.
