LAURIE CHEN REPORTS ON UCL’S SUCCESS IN THE QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS

Statistics lovers and UCL fans, rejoice. According to this year’s QS World University rankings which were published today, UCL is now the seventh best university in the world, having scored an impressive 97.2 points.

Despite having slipped two places from last year’s result, UCL is officially the best university in London, narrowly beating Imperial in eighth place by a mere 1.1 points. Other UK universities that made the renowned league table’s Top 10 are the University of Cambridge in third place and the University of Oxford in sixth place.

In total, four London universities reached the world’s Top 50, with King’s College London at 19th place and the London School of Economics trailing behind at 35th place.

The highest rankings were predictably dominated by large American universities. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) came first overall, followed by Harvard University in second place. Stanford University came in joint third with Cambridge, with the California Institute of Technology and Chicago University at fifth and tenth place respectively.
