Tram and Train Strikes to go ahead this Easter Weekend

With the spring break coming up, it comes to no surprise that many of us will be taking that train journey home, or for the better of us, taking a holiday out to better enjoy that sweet British fresh air.

However – whether this comes as a surprise or not is to be debated – there will be a series of train and tram strikes during the Easter week, and it is key to take note of this before embarking on your journey.

Croydon Tramlink engineers are anticipated to go on strike from 24th to 28th March over a massive pay disparity, followed by a number of engineering work on the Thameslink and Southeastern train routes this Easter Weekend.

With complaints on the rise over the pay gap of £10,000 between Croydon engineers and their TFL counterparts, passengers taking London Tram services have been warned to take note of their journey times and plan ahead for the busy spring season.

Strikes are expected to take place over these five days with the entire Croydon Tramlink being disrupted. However, Bus and Overground services will take place as usual.

Following the strikes, massive engineering works are expected on routes across South London, Surrey, Kent and Sussex. Bus alternatives will be available but will not stop at places such as Nunhead or Ravensbourne – it is advised to double check that your route home is included in these services.

For our Southeastern train takers, no services will be available via Denmark Hill from 29th to 1st April. This will consequently affect any trains between London Victoria and Dartford on the Bexleyheath line, but additional trains may be provided instead.

Routes from Charing Cross are also said to be affected along several routes depending on dates, so be sure to check the TFL app or website for more information.
