A Peaceful Day in London by an Almost Londoner
I never thought that there could be a place in this world where you’d never feel bored. One of my greatest ambitions in life is to manage to make London my long-term home. Living here for a year now, I can say that I am captivated by London’s incomparable and diverse beauty, and I am falling for this city every day more and more.
Despite this, London can be an overwhelming city, and If sometimes you feel the need to escape the vibrant rhythm of the city, here are some of the gems in London that I hope everyone has the chance to visit at least once in their lifetimes.
Are you in Camden and are in need of some fresh air along with an outstanding view of the city? Then Primrose Hill is the right place for you. If the weather is sunny, grab some food and some friends and enjoy a picnic along with probably the best panoramic view of London that you will get for free.
Considered to be the longest tunnel in London, Angel’s Canal Towpath and Tunnel is the ideal place to relax with your book or your loved ones and a bottle of good wine. Enjoying the company of the ducks swimming along the canal almost makes you feel like you're in the countryside. Continue along the canal, and you'll reach Kings Cross, where you'll find Coal Drops Yard, where many good restaurants for food lovers can be found.
A day in Notting Hill is guaranteed to make you feel like Julia Roberts in the movie that this place is famously known for. Notting Hill, with its unique scenery, is the ideal place to admire colorful houses and is a fantastic destination for shopping where you’ll find Portobello Road Market, which has everything from fresh vegetables to unique thrift stores and valuable antiques. Notting Hill is far more than one of London’s most desirable and Instagrammable areas. For me, it’s a place where you can spend a wonderful and complete day. If you want to admire its beauty, I’d recommend you avoid visiting it at the weekend because it can be packed.
If you end up visiting these places, do not forget to bring your camera and your smile because, trust me, you will enjoy it.
P.S. Don’t forget that a relatively bad day in London is still better than a good day anywhere else.
